Gulab Jamun ” An Indian food dessert”


– 1 cup dry milk powder

– 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour

– 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted or ghee

– 1/2 teaspoon baking powder

– 1/2 cup milk

– 1-2 cups vegetable oil, for frying

– 1 pinch ground cardamom



– 1 1/4 cup white sugar

– 7 fluid oz. water

– 3/4 teaspoon vanilla extract, or 1 teaspoon rose water

– 1 pinch ground cardamom



1) In a large mixing bowl, stir the baking powder, flour, milk powder, and cardamom. 2) Mix in the melted butter/ghee and milk. Mix until blended well. Cover and let rest for 20 minutes. Set aside. 3) Pour the oil in a skillet on medium heat for at least 4-5 minutes. When splatters, turn on low if necessary. 4) Grab a pot, and in it mix the sugar, water, vanilla/rose water, and cardamom. Stir. Let it boil, then simmer for just 2 minutes. Turn off after boiled and simmered. Set aside. 5) Now take your dough back out. Flour a surface, and put the dough on it. Yes, the dough might be SUPER STICKY! But that’s how it is supposed to be. Knead dough thoroughly, then form into about 20 small balls. Next, drop them in the oil skillet very carefully so that the oil does not splatter you.  Put them in about a handful at a time. When they turn golden, take the balls out. 6) Now that the balls are done, put them in the syrup pot to soak up the delicious syrup sauce for 5 minutes. Turn pot on low heat, just to keep it warm. 7) Take the balls and syrup out,put in a bowl,  and serve immediatly, or chill. Enjoy!
